As we head towards the big day of the Hunstanton Soap Box Derby our masterpiece is ready for its debut.
Led by our Training Manager, Robin, our students have been working hard to get the kart in shape and ready for the big event.
It’s been a pleasure to work with King’s Lynn Police who reached out to us and asked us to build them a vehicle.
Sergeant Darryl Grief said “We love getting involved with the Soap Box Derby every year as it’s such a great opportunity for our cadets. Our original soap box, built by a cadet, has lasted many years but it looks like it may be on its last legs after it went over a ramp rather enthusiastically in 2023! So we’ve been on the hunt for a new one and we’re so pleased that Open Road has been able to support us this year with this brilliant vehicle, you can clearly see the hard work that’s gone into the engineering and we’re looking forward to seeing how it performs on the track in September!”
What is Hunstanton Soap Box Derby?
The event is organised by the Borough Council of King’s Lynn & West Norfolk. The event involves hand-built karts being raced down Hunstanton’s hilly streets. The course is fast and full of challenges to overcome such as ramps and chicanes.
The event takes place on Sunday 22nd September with racing starting at 11am.
A big thank you to all those who have supported us with the building of the kart and we look forward to seeing everyone at the event.
